About Low-End Lounge

Low-end lounge was created by Ross McLeod, a professional musician, songwriter, producer, and music content writer from York, England.

Ross began his career in the music industry at 17 years old, as the bassist, lead singer and songwriter of the four-piece indie rock band, Likely Lads. The band released two albums: Melrose Yard Demos in 2011, and The Maximator in 2013, embarking on numerous UK tours supporting the likes of The Enemy, Reverend and the Makers, Pete Doherty, and Shed Seven. They also opened Leeds Festival in 2012.

In 2013, Ross formed a new band with two of his former bandmates, named The Blue Dawns, again as the bassist, lead singer, and songwriter. The band released four EPs to widespread acclaim, with the single “Refuse to Follow” garnering millions of streams online. Their music has been featured in Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour, and the band has released four EPs and a debut album in 2022 entitled Too Close to Home.

Additionally, Ross released a solo EP in 2017 entitled The Middle Way, and is the songwriter, producer, bassist, and drummer in the electronic R&B group Gold Jacket.

Ross has played on hundreds of recordings as a bassist over the past decade or so. He also has a first-class BA honors degree in Music from York St. John University and a National Diploma in Music Technology from Leeds Conservatoire (formerly Leeds College of Music). He’s also currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Music Composition at York St. John.

Low-end Lounge is a place for me (Ross McLeod) and a small team of experienced musicians to share our expertise and experiences as bassists. We plan to cover everything from the basics to more advanced aspects of playing the bass. We hope you find the content useful!
